UCS was honored today by the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) at the 2009 Celebration of Northern Virginia Business Success, held at the Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner. Each year, FCEDA brings together business leaders, economic development professionals, and elected officials to honor companies from around northern Virginia that are among the largest in their category or have grown quickly in the last several years.
“In recent years, our company has seen tremendous growth as a result of the outstanding services provided by our employees,” said Charu Dhumne, President of UCS. “Our customers truly value the innovative business and technology solutions we provide for them, and they have rewarded us in many cases by continuing and expanding our level of support. Our location in Fairfax County gives us access to a large base of highly-motivated, skilled, and well-educated employees, and those employees have been critical to our success.”
Honorees for the event were drawn from 2008 business success scorecards like Black Enterprise magazine’s B.E. 100 list of the 100 largest African American-owned firms, Hispanic Business magazine’s list of the top 500 Hispanic-owned businesses, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s “Fantastic 50 of the fastest-growing companies in the Commonwealth,” and the Washington Business Journal’s “50 Fastest-Growing Companies” list.
“We are delighted to host an event that honors companies for their contributions in expanding and diversifying Northern Virginia’s business communities and making this one of the most dynamic regional economies in the nation,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the FCEDA.
Time magazine called Fairfax County, just outside Washington, D.C., “one of the great economic success stories of our time.” Fairfax County offers businesses a state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure, access to domestic and international markets through Washington Dulles International Airport, and a well-educated workforce.
