A key facet of the Medical Health System’s (MHS) mission is promoting prevention, wellness, and readiness across the Armed Forces. To facilitate these goals, the DHA developed the Nutrition Management Information System (NMIS) and the Special Needs Program Management Information System (SNPMIS) to address specific health issues facing our troops and their families today. Used across all three Services at 49 military treatment facilities (MTFs), NMIS is an automated information system for medical food management and medical nutrition therapy; NMIS helps medical professionals, foodservice operators, and diet technicians manage their patients’ nutrition by streamlining multiple components of nutrition care operations. Also used across the Services, SNPMIS was developed to help the DoD and military medical departments provide special education and related services to children with disabilities enrolled in DoD schools through streamlined case tracking, management, and reporting. The UCS team will provide both systems with operations and maintenance support and development enhancements.
